Using the simulator is the perfect way to prepare and develop your on-track skills.

Whether you’re preparing yourself for your first time on track, or you’re in the middle of a busy race season, the more you can familiarise yourself with the handling characteristics of a particular car, and the specific surroundings and conditions of a particular track, the faster you’re sure to see positive results.

  • Is Sim Training Worth It?

Four-time Formula 1 World Champion Max Verstappen certainly thinks so.

In a 2025 podcast, Max affirmed that, given an ultimatum of having to choose karting or sim racing, he would choose sim racing to better prepare him for a motorsport career.

In the same year, Verstappen used iRacing to prepare him for his GT3 racing debut at the Nürburgring; a race which he and his team-mate won outright (NLS 9, 2025).

Knowledge and information are key components to driving fast.

These can refer to knowledge of a particular type of car, tyre wear, power delivery or weight distribution - but one of, if not THE biggest components of the car is YOU.

Your instincts; natural or learned, combined with a knowledge of the car, your surroundings and the tarmac you’re driving on, will allow you to eventually control the car in a style of your choosing, to hopefully achieve the desired outcome.

The wear, tear and consumables of running a physical car, as well as track time, is expensive.
